Using a Different System?

  • Install Grafana on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Are we missing a guide for your target system? Request one, or submit your own!

Introduction

Grafana is an open-source software that transforms multiple feeds from systems such as Graphite, Telegraf, and InfluxDB into beautiful metrics in a centralized dashboard.

This tutorial will cover the process of installing the Grafana web interface.

Requirements

  • A Debian 8 64 Bit instance3.
  • Approximately 5 minutes.

Installation

Grafana can be installed via apt using the following commands:

$ wget https://grafanarel.s3.amazonaws.com/builds/grafana_4.1.1-1484211277_amd64.deb
$ apt-get install -y adduser libfontconfig
$ dpkg -i grafana_4.1.1-1484211277_amd64.deb

Start the server (via systemd)

Use the following commands to start Grafana and add set it to auto-start on system boot:

$ systemctl daemon-reload
$ systemctl start grafana-server
$ systemctl status grafana-server

Usage

The Grafana daemon listens to port 3000. In order to visit the Grafana Dashboard, point your browser to http://192.168.0.1:3000 (replace this IP with your actual server IP), and use the default login credentials below:

Username: admin
Password: admin

Note: Please make sure to change the default Grafana password to prevent unauthorized access to the dashboard.

This concludes out tutorial. Thank you for reading.
